Decoding gender differences: Intellectual profiles of children with specific learning disabilities

There has been a significant amount of debate around gender differences in intellectual functioning, however, most this research concerns typically developing populations and lacks into atypically those with specific learning disabilities (SLD). To address this, we examined performance on the WISC-IV children SLDs (N = 1238, N female 539, Age range 7–16 years). We further divided sample deficits reading, mathematics, mixed disorder. Results indicate that predicts working memory index processing speed only, indicating small but superiority. also show different profiles for disorders investigated, some emerging. The prominent difference appears to be coding subtest advantage, particularly mathematical difficulties. discuss theoretical clinical implications findings.
